Saturday 4th pm - Last hours in Vegas

The girls were dropped off on the Vegas strip to get lunch and then went shopping in "The Forum".

Back to the hotel to pick up the luggage.

Saturday 4th am - The Hoover dam.

In the morning we had a visit to the famous Vegas sign.

We the headed out to Lake Mead which was formed by the engineering feat of the 1930's the Hoover dam. Viewed from the more recent bridge, built in the 2000's it looked magnificent.

Friday 3rd pm - Looking round Vegas

For lunch we walked into Vegas. After finding a snack in the food hall we made our way to the high roller, which is the Vegas equivalent to the London Eye.

 

We then had shopping time on part of the strip and in the Forum. 

Supper was at the Hard Rock Cafe and finally we went to the cinema to watch "Cinderella".

Friday 3rd am - Morning by the pool

In the morning we had a relaxing time by the pool to recuperate from the long trip to Grand Canyon. The water was hot enough for a swim.

Thursday 2nd - Visit to the Grand Canyon

A 7am start to visit the Grand Canyon threw up a few challenges today. We made excellent time and with only one quick stop to reach the south rim in five hours. We visited the Mather Point in the first place to get some great views of the canyon.

After a lunch in one of the lodges we went to the second main view point, Bright Angel Lodge. Again some great views of the canyon.

We had supper at a truck stop on the way back, which had a wide range of meals, salad and desserts.

Wednesday 1st pm - Arrived in Vegas

Sad as it was to leave LA we set off to Vegas via another shopping mall.

The trip from the shopping mall in Barstow to Vegas hit a 90 minute delay on the freeway.

This made us miss time in the pool. We went straight to tea at university and then on to the hotel.

A solar furnace we saw on route. 

Off to Grand Canyon tomorrow.

Wednesday 1st April - Off to Vegas.

Happy April Fool's Day. Some silly photos for you all.

Tuesday 31st pm - Santa Monica Beach.

On Tuesday afternoon the group went off to Santa Monica beach. This was to enjoy the lovely warm sunny weather, which I believe is a contrast to the weather in Sheffield. 

The evening was spent visiting the Bubba Gump restaurant.

Tuesday 31st am - What's up Doc, visit to Warner Brothers Studios.

Another early start to get to the studios on time, left some students having to get up and dressed in five minutes, as they had slept through their alarms.

Lots of girls were making a fuss about sets from "Pretty little liars" - no idea why!

The museum had a sorting hat, but no one was put in ravenclaw. Why not? 

The sofa in the "Friends" cafe was also very popular.

Monday 30th - We all love Disney.

On Monday we spent the whole day in Disney's California Adventure. Some students came well prepared.

The rides are aimed at an old age range than the normal Disney rides. It still contains some traditional rides such as Cars land and a Bug's Life.

The scary rides include the Tower of terror, the California Screamin' and the goofy sky school. Some students however were put off by the thought of getting wet on the water rapids. 

The parades and sing along were also a big attraction. The frozen sing along and the Aladdin show were very popular.

In the evening we stayed for the firework display which we could see in Disneyland and watched the World of colour, water and light display.

We returned back to the hotel very tired and ready for some sleep.
